Vallarta Escapes Newsletter, February 2010

Recently I had the opportunity to enjoy a new restaurant – Prime 1519 located in Nuevo Vallarta. In the past few months the restaurant landscape in Nuevo Vallarta has grown nicely – We have seen many new restaurants including Portobello, Prime 1519, Red Dragon and The Willows open with more planned to open this season.
Nuevo Vallarta located in Riviera Nayarit is the fastest growing area in the Banderas Bay. The beaches are clean, the water is delicious, the area is totally family friendly and to be honest the prices of lodging are lower than in neighboring Puerto Vallarta. It is in my opinion a combination of the lower lodging prices and the pristine beaches that lead the stampede to Nuevo Vallarta.
For your next visit to the Puerto Vallarta area, I would strongly recommend a stay in Nuevo Vallarta!

Vacation Rental Services:

Condo Ocean Vista located in Nuevo Vallarta, is a delightful 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo that can comfortably sleep 6. Located at the point of the Banderas Bay and the entrance to the Marina, the balcony of this condo is suited for people watching and relaxing.
The price is outstanding at only $195.00 per night which is better by far than the price of 2 hotel suites.

Senor Sweeney’s is “old town” Puerto Vallarta’s original neighborhood tavern. Following in the footsteps of its 30 year old name sake in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Senor Sweeney’s cools the thirst, feasts the hunger and comforts the heart of all who enter. Whether you’re in the mood for an ice cold beer, a damn good burger, or an outstanding “folk- gourmet” dinner of steak, chops or seafood, Sweeney’s is the place … and the prices are among the lowest in town.
Senor Sweeney’s is located in the heart of old town, just one block from the Los Muertos pier. Ask for Andale’s, and you’ll find Senor Sweeney’s right next door on the second floor. Business Opportunity for sale at $67,500. Great Return on Your Investment.

Spotlight on San Pancho

“San Pancho” translated means San Francisco. This is a quaint coastal village on the Riviera Nayarit Mexico that welcomes its’ guests with open arms. Within an hour you can travel to this haven from Puerto Vallarta. Crossing over the American River you enter into a place that could easily be called home.
Originally this was a fishing village with Palapa thatched cottages that had no electricity and no running water. Former Mexican President (1970-1976) Luis Escheverria took charge and built schools, a hospital and a business center. He left the country before the task was completed, but… the ground work had been done and a structured community had been started.
Life moves on and so does San Pancho. A prime example is how one of the unfinished warehouses was refurbished to become a center for children. Check out their site: entreamigos.org.mx
There are vacation rentals, recreational activities, restaurants and a beautiful beach along this tranquil pueblo by the sea. Surfers know this area for the incredible waves that last for miles.
There are 37 properties from lots to villas available for purchase in the San Pancho area. One of the newest developments is the cultural center by Lemmus: www.lemmus.com/mexico/real-estate/Lemmus-event/Yuri-Zatarain.html

There have been Pirates spotted in Puerto Vallarta!

    Ship Ahoy Matey!

I can highly recommend the adventure of the Marigalante Pirate Ship. The adventure starts at 5:00 pm as you enter the Maritme Terminal in Puerto Vallarta. After your check in you are invited wander and to the magic of the pirate world.
The Marigalante has 3 levels for the audience from any of these you can see the show perfectly. The staff is all dressed in authentic pirate costumes which adds to the flair of the event.
Peter was the Master of Ceremonies or the Head Pirate. He was responsible for making this adventure. The activities and games that all the crew did were great fun and completely enjoyed by a mixed audience of Mexicans, Canadians and Americans.
It’s amazing when the sunset starts because you can see all the colors that only Puerto Vallarta offers you, the sunsets in Puerto Vallarta are magical and romantic Don´t forget to bring your camera to catch these special moment and of course to show everybody at home how you spent your time in Puerto Vallarta.
They serve the dinner on the boat which is first rate. I asked for a chicken cordon blue and Julio asked grilled fish both of which were outstanding. Marigalante offers you open bar where you can order: beer, rum and tequila drinks. Oh and do not forget to ask for your margarita which they make with a special flair.

After dinner the show begins, Pedro gives an introduction to pre-Hispanic traditions of Mexico and to frame the night cannot miss the fireworks that every night is a spectacle throughout the Bay of Banderas.

Unfortunately everything has to end and our adventure on the pirate ship came to an close.
